Onshore Safety Alliance Releases Safety Resources

The Onshore Safety Alliance (OSA) is a voluntary coalition committed to reducing serious injuries and fatalities (SIFs) in U.S. onshore upstream. The Energy Workforce & Technology Council is one of the OSA’s charter trade associations. By the sharing of best practices to identifying and reducing risks, OSA members are dedicated to advancing personal and process safety to reach the shared goal of reducing SIFs. The OSA is an industry-wide program open to all companies engaged in oil and gas exploration and production operations in the onshore space and that are dedicated to the well-being of the industry’s workforce.

The OSA shares resources and tools to support participants as they work to advance personal and process safety within their organizations.  The following additional resources have been added to the OSA website.

  • Guidelines for a Robust Safety Culture:   Guidance describing a robust safety culture is now available. The goal of this document is to help define and describe specific safety culture characteristics in more detail to help industry understand and align on their purpose, as well as provide a standardized list of key success factors and obstacles that can enable or inhibit a robust safety culture.
  • Working in Hot Weather Guidance: Guidance is available on working in hot weather conditions to be used within the field.
  • IOGP Process Safety Fundamentals Webinar Recording:  A recording of the January OSA webinar providing an introduction to the IOGP Process Safety Fundamentals is now available.  You will also find a link to the webinar presentation.

These resources are provided for illustration purposes only and do not amend existing industry standards or establish new standards.  Each company should develop its own approach, and sound business, scientific, engineering, and safety judgment should be used in employing the information contained herein.
