Panelists Center Discussion on Inclusion, Diversity

0 (4)PESA President Leslie Beyer spoke on November 21 at the Oil & Gas Council’s North America Assembly, which offered networking for senior executives in Houston and covered various opportunities in North American upstream and LNG sectors, from M&A and digital strategy to water infrastructure, conventional prospects and diversity.

Beyer participated on the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) in Energy Panel, as PESA has led the sector with its ground-breaking diversity study, diversity and inclusion toolkit, and 2020 Inclusion & Diversity Business Champion certification program.

The panel focused on the importance of D&I and its impact within the sector. Panelists touched upon how diverse thought drives positive return and what they are each experiencing in their respective areas.

Innovations around AI, additive manufacturing and digitalization of the entire supply chain are going to make jobs in energy more accessible to a broadened workforce.”[/su_quote]

Beyer and her fellow panelists forecasted D&I’s longevity, explaining that it was not just a trend but something that must become the fabric of our industry and a critical part of attracting the next generation of energy workforce. The panel also discussed inclusion and diversity broadly within groups with differences in gender, nationality, age and those with disabilities, as the sector prepares for significant shift in workforce.

Other panelists included Carrie Slagle, Regional Head- O&G Listings, New York Stock Exchange; Patrick McWilliams, Partner, NGP ; Lucia Martinez, Managing Director & Head Energy & Natural Resources, North America, Standard Chartered Bank and Michelle Smith, VP Land, The Quiat Companies.

PESA’s Inclusion & Diversity Business Champion certification program offers key learnings cross-functional leaders in energy. Utilizing interactive seminars, mentoring/coaching and executive sponsorship, the course will leverage the PESA Diversity Toolkit to help companies create individual plans of action.
