PESA Discusses Key Policy Issues with Sen. Cornyn’s Houston Director

Jay Guerrero

Jay Guerrero, Regional Director SE Texas – ‎United States Senate, Office of Senator John Cornyn

On November 8, Bob Ryan, Deputy General Counsel, Stallion Oilfield Services; Phillip Shotts, Associated General Counsel and Director of IP, FairfieldNodal; and Jean Gould, Senior Director – Public Policy, PESA, met with Jay Guerrero, Regional Director SE Texas – ‎United States Senate, Office of Senator John Cornyn (R-TX).

The meeting was a great opportunity to introduce PESA and discuss key policy issues, including tax reform and NAFTA modernization. Sen. Cornyn serves on the Finance Committee – which has jurisdiction over taxation – and he has been a strong supporter of tax priorities for the oil and gas industry. The group discussed the status of NAFTA negotiations, and Bob and Phillip shared PESA’s view that it was important to retain the current architecture of NAFTA in order to sustain and promote a strong and integrated North American oil and natural gas market. Bob conveyed PESA’s interest in meeting with the Senator during the Winter 2018 Fly-in.

Bob and Phillip serve on the PESA Government Affairs and International Trade Policy Subcommittees, respectively.  An important responsibility of these committees is establishing and strengthening relationships with elected officials and their staff to expand the reach and influence of the oilfield service and supply sector. Companies involved in the Government Affairs Subcommittee include ASRC Energy Services, Baker Hughes, a GE company, Cameron, FairfieldNodal, Forged Products, Galtway Industries, Halliburton, NOV, Rubicon, Schlumberger, Stallion Oil Field Services and Weatherford. If your company is interested in joining either of these committees and helping to elevate the profile of the oilfield service and supply sector, please contact PESA Senior Director – Public Policy Jean Gould.
