PESA Members met with Christi Craddick, Chairman of the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC), at an informative meet-and-greet at NOV’s corporate headquarters in Houston on May 1.
Craddick provided the attendees with a candid, inside look at the current atmosphere in the Texas Legislature from an oil and gas perspective, and her agency’s collaboration with federal and state regulatory bodies. She also spoke about the RRC’s work with private industry and gave an outlook on the future of the industry.
Formed in 1891, the RRC is the oldest regulatory agency in Texas and the oldest agency of its kind in the entire nation. Originally tasked with establishing tariffs and preventing discriminatory railroad charges, its current focus is regulating the state’s abundant oil and gas industry.
Craddick was first elected to the commission in 2012 and has since ascended to Chairman of the five-person panel. During the last six years, she has become one of the state’s leading thinkers and drivers of efficiency, innovation and sensible solutions.
Craddick and the participants engaged in extensive discussion that focused on well-water disposal, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the industry’s economic and market outlook and more.
