PESA Joins with Trade Group in Supporting the Bipartisan SECURE American Energy Act

House Committee on Natural ResourcesOn November 6, PESA joined with seven industry trade associations to voice support for the Strengthening the Economy with Critical Untapped Resources to Expand American Energy Act (SECURE Act). The goal of the ambitious bill – which is sponsored by Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Rob Bishop (R-UT), and Congressmen Henry Cuellar (D-TX) and Vincente González (D-TX) – is to spur U.S. onshore and offshore energy development.

Key provisions of the bill include expanding access to natural resources on federal lands, delegating regulatory authority to states that opt in, limiting the President’s authority to withdraw OCS areas from leasing, and expanding revenue sharing with coastal states. Ultimately, the legislation will help to ensure continued economic progress is fueled through the sustainable development of our natural resources.

The bill passed the House Natural Resources Committee on November 8 and now awaits action by the full House of Representatives. If you have questions, please contact PESA Senior Director Public Policy Jean Gould.
