Texas: Governor-elect Abbott Speaks Out on Fracking Bans

Upstream Conventional & Unconventional Onshore Development

Citing a “patchwork quilt of bans and rules and regulations that are eroding the Texas model,” Governor-elect Greg Abbott (R) spoke out against the number of local regulatory ordinances in the state that do such things as restrict the use of plastic shopping bags, ban fracking for oil and gas and limit what homeowners can do with trees on their property. Abbott’s remarks following State Representative Phil King’s (R) proposed legislation (House Bills 539 and 540) to discourage cities from passing drilling ordinances. Abbott will take office January 20.
