The U.S. Oil & Gas Industry is Not Going Anywhere

PESA President Leslie Beyer made the following statement in response to last night’s presidential debate.

oil-gas-statement

While it’s true the energy ecosystem is in transition, former Vice President Biden is incorrect that it means replacing one form of energy with another or phasing out oil and gas. The transition to a lower carbon energy future is about using all our resources to produce the reliable, affordable and cleaner power that America needs for economic development and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

With demand rising around the world, scale and expertise matter. Almost three billion people lack access to reliable electricity. As the world’s population continues to grow in developing countries, oil and gas will be critical in providing opportunities and alleviating poverty.

The men and women of the U.S. oil and gas industry are an integral part of producing energy we require now and in the future, developing technologies that reduce emissions, improve efficiency and make our planet cleaner.

We’re not going anywhere.
