Advanced fracking technology has, in a relatively short period of time, transformed the United States from a position of energy scarcity to the global leader in oil and gas production. This dramatic transformation has injected billions of dollars into the US economy, created millions of jobs, and revived communities across the country. Affordable natural gas produced by fracking enabled America to simultaneously increase electricity production while reducing CO2 emissions by more than 2.8 billion tons since 2005 — the largest source of energy-related carbon savings, according to the Energy Industry Administration.
While President Trump’s potential executive order mandating an economic analysis of fracking is still under consideration, PESA would support such an effort, as we know it will show that fracking is indispensable to America’s energy supply and national security — now, and in the future. As we move forward with the transition to a lower carbon energy future, it’s critical for America to pursue realistic solutions that use all available resources to produce the reliable, affordable and cleaner energy the world needs.
