Hydraulic Fracturing Ban Struck Down in Colorado Court

A Colorado judge on Thursday gave a big win to the oil and gas industry by striking down a prohibition on fracking in the city of Longmont, the first in a series of hydraulic fracturing bans.

In her ruling, Judge D.D. Mallard said Longmont’s charter amendment clearly conflicted with the state’s regulations and its interest in the efficient development of oil and gas deposits.

PESA applauds this ruling in the state and nation’s best interest.
