PESA Strengthens Relations with Allied Trades to Expand Membership Value

Promoting Energy Education, PESA supports multiple programs in collaboration with the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) and the Offshore Energy Center (OEC). Since 2012, IPAA and PESA have worked with corporate and individual sponsors to establish science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education programs in public high schools targeted to engineering and geoscience professions. To date, more than 400 students have participated in the energy-focused program.

At the elementary and middle school level, PESA collaborates with OEC to deliver on-campus field trips through Mobile Oilfield Learning Units (MOLUs).  MOLU is a traveling exhibit that features hands-on activities around technologies and sciences involved in the oil and natural gas industry.

Regionally, PESA collaborates with the Permian Basin Petroleum Association (PBPA) to promote industry’s activities in the prolific Permian Basin.  Most recently, PESA and PBPA co-hosted a luncheon in Midland which featured a discussion on the economic climate and implications for development activities in the Permian Basin.  As PESA members continue to drive innovation across the Permian, PESA will grow its presence in the area to better serve its members as a strategic resource.

On the policy front, PESA coordinates with the American Petroleum Institute (API); the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA); the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC); the International Association of Geophysical Contractors (IAGC); and the National Ocean Association (NOIA).

Key issues in focus for 2017 include regulatory agendas of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM); the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA); and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE).

PESA welcomes collaboration with other targeted groups that share our mission of advocacy for the energy industry. If you work with other allied trade association in the energy space and would like to explore collaboration possibilities with PESA, please contact PESA Sr. Director of Public Policy, Jean Gould.
