Nathan Nemeth

Nathan Nemeth is a Principal Research Analyst on Wood Mackenzie’s Lower 48 Upstream Research team, which covers short and long-term oil and gas supply, key unconventional plays, upstream financial asset valuation and objective commercial analysis on Lower 48 upstream producers. Nathan is a key contributor to the development of Wood Mackenzie’s comprehensive Lower 48 unconventional well cost model. Nathan joined the Wood Mackenzie upstream research team in 2015.

Kartapurkh S. Khalsa

Senior Counsel & Director of Customs Compliance. NOV

Kartapurkh S. Khalsa is Senior Counsel & Director of Customs Compliance for NOV. He is responsible for the creation and implementation of policies related to NOV’s global customs compliance program. His globally based team is responsible for ensuring compliance with the customs laws and regulations of the countries in which NOV operates.

Mr. Khalsa has developed a wide-ranging customs compliance program, including the creation and implementation of policy controls regarding classification, valuation, use of special preference programs, and controls surrounding anti-dumping/countervailing duties. This program has helped NOV alleviate penalties and properly manage compliance related risks around the world.  Mr. Khalsa is NOV’s primary point of contact with U.S. Customs & Border Protection (“CBP”) and oversees the company’s responses to CBP audits. He is also responsible for the review and approval of NOV communications with CBP, including all prior disclosures, responses to requests for information and notices of action. Mr. Khalsa’s team also manages all NOV responses to inquiries from non-U.S. Customs officials and provides on-site compliance training to NOV operations around the world.

Mr. Khalsa also oversees NOV’s Supply Chain Compliance and Due Diligence processes, including conflict minerals reporting and the reporting requirements under the UK Modern Slavery Act and similar Acts in other jurisdictions.

Cindy DeLeon

Founder & Managing Director, Deleon Trade LLC

Cindy, founder and Managing Director of Deleon Trade LLC, leverages her extensive audit experience to help clients enhance their internal control programs, ensuring U.S. Customs compliance and success in focused assessments and customs audits. She specializes in identifying risks in import operations, developing compliance manuals, and preparing crucial documentation such as prior disclosures, transaction value reconciliations, and cost submissions. Cindy’s expertise has consistently led to favorable audit outcomes for her clients. Before Deleon Trade, she spent 12 years at U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Regulatory Audit Division in Chicago, where she conducted and supervised various audits and fraud investigations for Fortune 500 and midsize companies. Rasul has been a Trade Compliance Attorney at NOV since September 2023, with the following responsibilities:

– Reviewing, deploying, and implementing NOV’s Trade Compliance program.
– Advising on all matters related to Sanctions and Export Control Regulations.
– Performing final due diligence reviews of all operations and transactions related to trade compliance
– Reviewing and negotiating trade compliance language in contracts

Prior to joining NOV, he gained extensive experience at Total Energies in Paris, France, where he worked for five years in the Economic Sanctions/Export Control and Mergers & Acquisitions – Legal department. During his time there, he played a crucial role in managing complex legal issues and ensuring compliance with economic sanctions and export control regulations.
Rasul holds a Master of Laws from the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas in France and a Master of Laws from a university in Russia.

Ben brings 19 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, beginning his career in new manufacturing and repair departments, progressing through multiple operational roles to his current position as VP of Operations at Premium. His technical background laid the groundwork for developing innovative and cost-effective sourcing solutions. Ben’s industry knowledge and creative problem-solving skills have been instrumental in driving success and efficiency through industry volatility over the past decade.

Telyn Joseph

Telyn Joseph is the Director of Procurement at Oceaneering International Inc. since May 2021 and is responsible for leading the end to end Procurement function at Oceaneering. Prior to joining Oceaneering, Telyn Joseph worked for Baker Hughes and held various leadership roles, most recently as Executive Director, Global Sourcing and Category Management. He has over 17 years of global work experience in the Industry with a broad supply chain experience. Based in Sugar Land, Texas this role focuses on the enablement of US operations through reliable, compliant and cost effective supply to the operations. Trent Hemann is the Procurement Manager at Diamondback Energy, a position he has held since 2021. With the company since 2017, Trent has accumulated extensive experience in various Procurement and Materials roles. Before joining Diamondback, he worked at Halliburton from 2011 to 2017, focusing on Procurement, Materials, and Logistics in the Permian Basin. Trent holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with dual concentrations in Management and Marketing from Texas Tech University.

Jordan Chester

Jordan Chester is the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of DNOW (NYSE: DNOW) an industry-leading provider of oilfield service equipment and fabricated solution system packages to the oil and gas markets with over 2,750 employees in more than 20 countries. Jordan provides legal support to DNOW’s executive management team and Board of Directors on strategic initiatives, risk areas in litigation and compliance, and oversees management of internal governance standards and best practices while aiding the business unit’s growth goals. Jordan has been involved with EWTC since 2019 and recently took over as the Chair of the Legal Committee in 2024.

Partner, Bradley

Peter Scaff is an experienced commercial litigator whose practice focuses on the oil and gas industry. He co-chairs the firm’s Oil and Gas Law team.

Peter has litigated a variety of energy industry disputes, including cases concerning joint operations, areas of mutual interest, lease acquisition, misappropriation and trade secrets, seismic licensing, supply chain, construction and manufacturing. He also has significant experience handling cases related to oilfield operations, downhole failures and well control events. Notably, Peter served as national counsel to a major oilfield service company in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill, serving as lead counsel during related governmental investigations and hearings.  Peter has litigated energy disputes in courthouses across Texas, as well as in Oklahoma, Louisiana and North Dakota.

Although he has litigated cases involving some of the largest energy companies in the world and damage claims involving billions of dollars, Peter also enjoys assisting entrepreneurs and mid-size companies with their legal needs. He still enjoys advising clients on their more routine matters, including drafting and negotiating master service agreements and terms and conditions. His clients value his deep understanding of their business operations, as well as his strategic, practical approach to litigation. 

In addition to energy industry matters, Peter has a diverse commercial litigation practice, routinely handling matters involving real estate, construction, franchising, partnership litigation, misappropriation, and fiduciary litigation. He also has prosecuted a number of civil fraud and investment scheme cases, many of which involved parallel criminal proceedings.

Vice President of Power Solutions, NexTier

Aaron serves as Vice President of Power Solutions at NexTier, providing strategic direction for the natural gas fueling solutions and power generation business unit primarily supporting the frac market.   Aaron joined NexTier in 2020 to lead the launch and rapid growth of this new business unit with full scale operations offering compressed natural gas (CNG) and field gas treatment services in US land.

Aaron was previously the Vice President of Engineering at Certarus, a CNG services business serving many different markets around North America.   Prior to Certarus, Aaron started his alternative fuels journey as the founding employee at OsComp Holdings, a VC-backed startup providing solutions focused on end-to-end CNG virtual pipeline.  Aaron previously worked for GE Oil & Gas for several years.  Aaron holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Lafayette College and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Dan Connelly

Senior Vice President and General Counsel PCS, HMH

Dan is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel PCS at HMH, an international equipment, services and technology company serving the oil & gas industry.  Dan has responsibility for legal issues related to the Pressure Control Systems (PCS) global businesses, including serving as counsel and advisor to leadership, determining business strategy, managing insurance and compliance, leading a team of legal professionals, communicating with industry regulators, managing litigation and intellectual property, supporting mergers & acquisitions, negotiating customer contracts with private and state-owned energy companies, leading the legal team’s response to issues concerning customers and third party agents, managing product safety, HSE and recall issues, managing outside counsel, and a wide variety of other issues that affect and impact HMH and the industry.  Dan also currently serves as the Honorary Consul General and Head of Post in the New Zealand Consulate in Houston with jurisdiction in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. 

Prior to accepting his current role, Dan served as Senior Commercial Counsel at GE Oil & Gas and Baker Hughes.  He was previously a Senior Associate with the International M&A group at Vinson & Elkins LLP in the Beijing and Houston offices, and was Of Counsel with Wikborg Rein, a European law firm, in the Shanghai office, where he led a team of corporate associates and focused on international mergers & acquisitions and transactions related to the upstream energy industry.  After law school, Dan served as a Federal Law Clerk for Chief Judge John H. Hannah, Jr., U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Texas.  Dan, a native of Texas, earned a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas, graduating Salutatorian in his class (2001).  Dan graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Communications (1992).  Dan speaks Spanish and conversational Chinese.

Joseph (“Jay”) Acayan is a partner at Roberts & Kehagiaras LLP in Houston, Texas, with more than twenty years of experience in international trade. His practice focuses on customs related agency law, including import/export compliance, and defending clients administratively and in the Court of International Trade.  He also represents clients for export related issues in matters handled by a host of government agencies such as the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), and the Foreign Trade Division of the U.S. Census Bureau.  Jay is Customs counsel for the LLUSCBA (Laredo Licensed U.S. Customs Brokers Association).

Tyler has over 10 years with Patterson-UTI and a diverse background within the company including Operations, Marketing, Construction and Engineering, and HSE.  He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and A.S. in Nuclear Technology

Roy Aune

Vice President – Liberty Advanced Equipment Technologies, Liberty Energy

Roy is the Vice President – Liberty Advanced Equipment Technologies for Liberty Energy.  He has an extensive project background in resource extraction and served as Director of Engineering for Amcol International and CEO of Cronimet Chrome Mining South Africa prior to joining Liberty. Roy received an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Montana State University and a Masters in Operations Management from Syracuse University.  He has spent the majority of his career working with heavy equipment.  He also has extensive power distribution experience and was senior project engineer for the installation of a new 69kV/13.8KV system in Montana and managed a 2MW photovoltaic solar system installation in South Africa.

Adenike Babaoye

Senior Legal Counsel for Planning & Supplier Chain, SLB

Adenike Babaoye, is the Senior Legal Counsel for Planning & Supplier Chain in SLB and is currently based in the SLB Houston. Her role includes managing Supplier Contracts process from sourcing to contracts, collaborating on Legal matters related to environmental sustainability governance “ESG” performance, global regulatory compliance matters, technology business line P & SC initiatives and agreements.

Adenike has over 22 years working experience as an Attorney in the financial industry and in the last 13 years of her career with SLB, where she has held diverse roles SLB in Contracts and Legal operations as Contracts Analyst, Sub-Sahara Africa Contracts Manager for both Customer and Supplier as well as Legal Counsel in Sub Sahara Africa. Prior to her current role she was the Legal Counsel for West Africa based in Lagos, overseeing legal matters West African countries in Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon.

Adenike holds an LL.B – Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Ilorin, Barrister at Law “B.L” from the Council of Legal Education, NGA Law School, an International Association for Contract and Commercial Management “IACCM” certification in Oil and Gas contracting and is currently undergoing an MBA Degree from the Southern New Hampshire University, USA

Carl Bodtker

Senior Vice President Strategy & Corporate Development, HMH

Carl is the Senior Vice President Strategy & Corporate Development at HMH, an international equipment, services and technology company serving the oil & gas industry. He is recognized for identifying profitable business opportunities, negotiating favorable terms in complex cross border transactions, and developing innovative solutions to difficult financial and human capital issues.

Carl serves as the chair of HMH’s Saudi Arabian Joint Venture. He is fluent in English, German and Spanish, with conversational Norwegian. Prior to that he worked in various roles at NOV (NYSE: NOV). Carl holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.

Mark Mehnert

Managing Executive Counsel, Baker Hughes

Mark Mehnert is Managing Executive Counsel at Baker Hughes Company with 15 plus years of in-house legal experience.  He currently leads a team of 20 plus globally based lawyers on the regional legal team for the OFSE product company of Baker Hughes. He also supports broad commercial efforts across Baker Hughes including support on energy transition and both sell and buy side contracting for Baker Hughes.  Mr. Mehnert started his in-house career with GE Oil & Gas (a former GE company) and prior to that was in private practice with a Houston area law firm.
