On Thursday of last week, the House passed H.R. 7176, “Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act” 224-200. This strong vote total is somewhat of a rarity in the closely divided partisan House. The yes votes included a number of Democrats who crossed party lines to support the legislation. Democratic members Caraveo, Cuellar, Costa, Golden, Gonzalez, Larsen, Peltola, Perez and Veasey all supported the measure. Democrats were not hesitant to express their support for the measure. “I’m for American energy, I’m for Texas, and I’m for my congressional district, as simple as that,” said Gonzalez. “Some people have really lost it on the idea of how we treat American energy in this country.”

HOUSTON —Today, the Energy Workforce & Technology Council released its June 2026 jobs report, showing that the energy services workforce remained relatively stable through the first half of 2026 despite a modest decline in June, even as the broader U.S. labor market slowed.
Energy services and technology sector employment is estimated using a combination of data published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and EWTC’s proprietary analysis of the sector. The estimate covers economic activities of energy technology and services companies, such as oil and gas extraction, construction, and manufacturing, among others. Total employment is estimated using the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages and monthly jobs data published by BLS, refined through EWTC’s sector-specific methodology to isolate energy services employment within broader industry categories. Note: BLS data is preliminary for the two most recent months and is subject to revision.
Beyond the monthly data, EWTC publishes an Annual Workforce Report summarizing the year’s employment trends, and every three years partners with Accenture on an in-depth workforce study that combines labor market data with survey responses from member companies. Government data measures how many people the sector employs; it does not capture skills gaps, hiring and retention challenges, or how technology is changing workforce needs. The member survey provides that information directly from operating companies, producing an analysis that supports both policy development and member workforce planning.
