Geopolitical tensions, tariffs, shipping constraints and changing supplier relationships are creating new pressures across the energy supply chain. Energy Workforce’s Supply Chain Committee recently gathered to examine those challenges and how companies can better prepare for what comes next.
During the meeting, Committee Member Nigel Bell, Managing Director at Deloitte, provided an overview of the supply chain outlook and challenges facing operators. Bell highlighted how geopolitical tensions, shipping issues and tariffs are creating new pressures on supply chains and discussed the challenges companies face in addressing issues that extend across individual organizations.
The discussion also explored opportunities for operators to collaborate and invest in domestic facilities, as well as the growing importance of longer-term partnerships with suppliers. More transparent data sharing and longer contractual terms could provide greater visibility and stability for both operators and their suppliers as companies navigate an increasingly complex market.
These issues will take center stage at the Energy Workforce Supply Chain Conference on September 23 in Houston, where members will hear directly from industry experts and customers on the trends affecting supply chain strategy and decision-making.
The conference will feature a supply chain outlook from Deloitte, a market outlook from Riveron and a customer panel featuring Chevron and Chord Energy amongst others. Attendees will then have the opportunity to dig deeper during interactive breakout sessions focused on:
- Tariffs, including insights from Ben Burt, Crane Worldwide Logistics, and Weatherford
- International Trade, featuring Alex Krutz, Patriot Industrial Partners
- Power Markets
- Human Capital, featuring Kierra Williams, Atlas Energy Solutions, and Kersten Metz, Baker Hughes
- AI Strategy
The breakout format will give attendees the opportunity to move beyond the broader market outlook and engage directly with experts on challenges affecting their businesses.

The committee meeting was hosted by Aaron Johnson with MustangCAT at the company’s Houston headquarters. Johnson provided members with an overview of MustangCAT before leading a tour of its large bore engine facility.
The facility was built for MustangCAT’s engine refurbishment operations, giving members an inside look at the process of refurbishing and testing large bore engines and the infrastructure required to support equipment throughout its lifecycle.
The Supply Chain Committee will continue these conversations at the September conference and during its fourth-quarter meeting at Baker Hughes this fall.
