Economic & Policy Outlook Takes Focus at Mustang Cat’s 2026 Economic Summit

Last week, Energy Workforce President Tim Tarpley returned to Mustang Cat’s Economic Summit to discuss the upcoming midterm elections and what potential changes in Congress could mean for the energy services sector.

Tim walked through key House and Senate races and the issues shaping the election. With control of Congress at stake, November’s results will help determine how lawmakers approach permitting reform, tariffs, domestic oil and gas production and LNG infrastructure over the next two years.

The discussion explored different scenarios for control of Congress, including the prospect of divided government and where agreement between the parties could be possible. For our sector, the question is how much room the next Congress will have to move legislation forward and what it will take to get there.

Energy affordability and rising energy costs were also highlighted as key economic issues heading into November, connecting the election outlook to the broader economic concerns discussed at the summit.

Thank you to Mustang Cat for hosting another great summit and the opportunity to share our sector’s perspective with industry leaders.
