ESG Training Program: Environmental Dimension Offers Strategic Opportunities for OFS

PESA concluded its deep dive sessions of the ESG Knowledge Sharing Certification Program with a webinar on the Environmental dimension of ESG led by presenters from bp and AMB Park Consulting

Hosted by ESG Committee Chairs Jock Pool, Oceaneering, and Valerie Banner, Exterran, and facilitated by Simone Ponticelli, Accenture, this was the third seminar in a series, which culminates in November.

From International Oil Company to Integrated Energy Company

Isabel Mogstad, Director, U.S. Policy & Engagement, bp, discussed how the British supermajor has “reimagined energy and reinvented bp.” Mogstad shared the company’s strategic thinking on energy transition and how it presents partnership opportunities in new areas for all players, including the OFS sector.  Mogstad said bp has developed an integrated program for the entire company to control methane. “You can’t manage what you can’t measure” she said.

Winning Strategies for ESG

Megan Parks, President, AMB Parks Consulting, shared tangible examples of successful ESG strategies within the OFS space. With PESA members varying in size and revenue, she highlighted examples of how effective different methods of “communicating your wins” can be.

Waste management, an issue most OFS companies are engaged with, presents opportunities for industry and cross-industry collaboration, according to Parks. She encouraged leaders to reframe their thinking about waste, be aspirational and learn from circular economy leaders in other industries.

In the final seminar, scheduled for November 19, participants will hear from a range of speakers on the topics of energy transition, rating agencies and reporting.
