Fort Collins Appealing Overturned Hydraulic Fracturing Ban On September 23, 2014, the Fort Collins City Council voted to appeal a recent court decision to overturn the city’s voter-supported moratorium on hydraulic fracturing. Last month, the 8th Judicial District Court ruled in favor of the Colorado Oil and Gas Association, concluding the moratorium violates state law that makes oil and gas activity a state priority. The City Council approved a resolution directing the city’s interim attorney to file an appeal on the ruling and to request a stay on the court’s decision pending the outcome of the appeal. |
