The Energy Workforce & Technology Council’s Latin America Chapter hosted its annual leadership networking reception at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence in Buenos Aires during the 2025 Argentina Oil & Gas Expo, where Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Lydia Barraza welcomed more than 200 guests to Bosch Palace for an exclusive evening of networking.
Hosted in conjunction with the Mississippi Trade Development Authority, the reception created new opportunities for energy leaders to connect and foster new relationships across the value chain. Since the last reception at the residence in 2023, both Argentina and the United States have welcomed new administrations and shifted priorities in energy development. Local Argentine government officials and representatives were in attendance as well as leaders from Aconcagua Energía, Excelerate Energy, Pampa Energia, Pluspetrol, YPF and others.
Argentina continues to stand out as a promising market for the energy services and technology sector, given that the Vaca Muerta formation holds one of the world’s largest shale reserves. Energy Workforce member companies are already active in Argentina, delivering drilling technologies, completions, equipment, and digital solutions that enable production. Beyond technology deployment, there are significant opportunities to develop long-term partnerships by investing in local talent and expertise.
The Latin America Chapter, led by Jorge Vidal of SLB, is growing steadily and remains committed to strengthening engagement across the region, including advancing opportunities in Argentina for the energy services sector. Over the past year, the Chapter has hosted workshops and roundtable discussions and is preparing to expand into technical exchanges. Energy Workforce is also planning a new chapter launch in Brazil, with the kick-off reception scheduled for late October during the 2025 OTC Brazil.
Thank you to the reception sponsors and partners: GD Energy Products, AFEX, Argentina Texas Chamber of Commerce, and EWTC’s Strategic Partners Chevron and SLB.
