February Jobs Report: Increased Focus on Domestic Production Leads to Gain of 4,170 Jobs

HOUSTON—Today, the Energy Workforce & Technology Council released its February 2025 jobs report, showcasing continued resilience and growth within the U.S. energy services sector.

Total jobs in the sector increased to 639,743 in February 2025, reflecting a gain of 4,170 positions from January, according to preliminary data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and analysis conducted by the Energy Workforce & Technology Council.

While overall job growth in the U.S. economy was slightly below expectations, it remained steady and consistent with long-term trends, demonstrating a balanced labor market. The national unemployment rate edged up to 4.1% from 4% in January.

“The energy services sector continues to be a driving force for economic progress,” said Energy Workforce President Molly Determan. “As we work to unleash American industry and prioritize domestic production, the industry is showing growth. We are optimistic about the future of employment across the industry. This momentum reflects our workforce’s important role in securing American energy security and economic prosperity.”
