How Authenticity and Leading by Example Make You a Better Leader: Insights from Steven Anderson, President & CEO of Evolution Well Services

Leadership Forum with Board Member Steven Anderson, President & CEO, Evolution Well Services

Industry professionals gathered last week for the Leadership Forum with Board Member Steven Anderson, President & CEO of Evolution Well Services.

Emerging Executives Committee Member Connor Sinclair, Vice President of Digital Technology at Evolution Well Services, set the stage, welcoming in attendees and introducing Steven.

Centered on the theme of “Leading by Example,” Anderson opened the forum by sharing impactful quotes that have shaped him as a leader over the years and emphasized the role authenticity plays in strong leadership.

“You have to be true to who you are. Your leadership style should reflect that. Leading by example can be inspirational or directional, but if you stay grounded in your values, what you say and what you show should always align,” shared Anderson.

Throughout the forum, Anderson highlighted several key aspects he believes set him apart as a leader, including his accessibility and the support he provides to his team. He emphasized that part of being an effective leader involves fostering a culture of confidence and trust.

The biggest takeaway Anderson stressed was the importance of being self-aware and understanding that showing up as your real, genuine self is one of the best things you can do for your team’s growth.

He shared that as a leader, you’re always a reflection of your actions, and it’s essential to use your experiences to continue growing.

“I think the greatest gift you can give yourself and your team is self-awareness. You collect and synthesize your experiences, absorb them, and begin to filter that through your actions, and that’s how you grow as a leader,” said Steven Anderson, President & CEO of Evolution Well Services.

Anderson closed the forum by explaining how giving his team the why, the background, and reasoning behind decisions shapes his leadership and provides clarity for his support and guidance.

He connected this to the values of Evolution, highlighting their framework of values, goals, and objectives represented by a prism, emphasizing that what you put in is what you get out.

A huge thank you to Steven for his participation as a leadership forum speaker and to all attendees.

The Emerging Executives Committee has three more Leadership Forums scheduled this year. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear from industry leaders and network. Register now for the upcoming forums with industry professionals from Oceaneering, Caterpillar, and Ideal Completion Services.
