The PESA Human Resources Committee holds bimonthly roundtable events educating PESA member companies on the various trends, challenges and solutions affecting global and domestic Human Resources departments. The roundtables also encourage open dialogue, connecting PESA members to discuss topics that include workforce planning, benefits, competency management, shared services and global mobility.
The most recent roundtable, held on October 18 at TechnipFMC, was about building better frontline managers. Mark Beckstrom, VP Business Improvement, Gravity Oilfield Services; Arthur Rhodes, HR Manager, Rubicon Oilfield International; and Ryan McAllister, HR Director – Artificial Lift, Baker Hughes, a GE company, shared best practices with HR Committee Chairman Dave Warnick, VP Human Resources, Weir Oil & Gas, moderating the discussion.
The panel addressed topics such as what different organizations are doing to develop frontline leaders, skills that are needed in frontline managers from a CEO perspective, and drivers and benefits of leadership programs for frontline manager development.
Mark Beckstrom shared a quote from Peter M. Senge tying in the importance of this topic, “The only sustainable competitive advantage is an organization’s ability to learn faster than the competition.”
The roundtable provided valuable insight on best practices and management for an evolving industry. This roundtable is part of a broader PESA strategy to elevate member company personnel through leadership development in the oilfield service and supply sector.
