Ohio: Three of Four Towns Reject Anti-Fracking Measures

[email_link]

Residents in Youngstown, Kent and Gates Mills rejected ballot measures to limit drilling activity in their cities. However, voters in Athens passed a proposed community bill of rights to ban fracking and related oil and gas activity even though there is no fracking well within city limits. The Athens Community Bill of Rights was developed to protect drinking water within the town. Similar measures have previously passed in Broadview Heights, Mansfield, Oberlin and Yellow Springs. A group in Columbus is pressing for a similar vote on a future ballot.
