Oklahoma Chapter Hosts Onshore Safety Panel

The Energy Workforce Oklahoma Chapter, led by Chapter Chair Dustin Anderson, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Kimray, held the first luncheon of the year at the Hamm Institute for American Energy in Oklahoma City on January 30.

Energy Workforce President Molly Determan gave a brief overview of EWTC as well as the 2024 advocacy priorities and upcoming events. She said the top advocacy initiatives include energy security and supply, regulatory certainty and stability, expanding innovative energy technologies to lower emissions and developing the energy workforce of the future.

The luncheon featured an Onshore Safety Panel moderated by Energy Workforce Advisory Board Member Dave Christmas, CEO, Stage Completions. The panelists were Darrius Dunbar, Asset Integrity Engineer with BPX; Brent Miller, Regional Environmental Health Safety Manager with Baker Hughes; Dirk Kolnsberg, Vice President HSE with Patterson-UTI; Earnest Washington, HSE Manager with Diamondback Energy; Josh West, HSE Manager – Systems, Planning & Performance with Oxy and Tyler Wylie, STACK Production Team Lead with Continental Resources.

Christmas led the panelists in discussions covering incidents seen in the Anadarko and Arkoma basins, learning from successful and unsuccessful days, how to manage working for multiple operators, AI and technology uses to mitigate safety risks, and the culture of safety.

Austin Harbour, Managing Director, and Victoria Beard, Director Business Development & Marketing with Piper Sandler sat down for an insightful fireside chat on the present market outlook for the energy sector.
Harbour advised on some of the key themes he is seeing for 2024.
