PESA Hosts Nigerian Petroleum Regulators for Educational Conference

Nigerian DelegationPESA’s Environmental Policy Committee hosted a delegation from the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) at PESA on October 15-18. The aim of this week-long conference was to educate the DPR staff on American regulations and compliance in the energy industry, as well as to enlighten them on the oil and gas industry’s perception of these regulations and methods of compliance.

The conference, led by Environmental Policy Committee Chairman John Candler, Director of Occupational Health & Environment at MI-SWACO, a Schlumberger Company, offered the DPR delegation the opportunity to hold targeted discussions with individuals from Member Companies including C&J Energy Services, Halliburton, M-I-SWACO, Newpark Resources and Schlumberger.

During the week the DPR participants also toured Stillmeadow’s environmental toxicology laboratory to see toxicology testing procedures firsthand, and TestAmerica’s analytical laboratory to see the process for collecting and testing field samples.

PESA’s Environmental Policy Committee focuses on environmental and process safety issues. If you are interested in learning more about joining this committee, please contact Michael Edwards, Director Government Affairs.
