The Energy Workforce & Technology Council (EWTC) is proud to announce the release of the Well Stimulation Surface Operations Industry Guidelines. Developed by the EWTC Well Stimulation Committee, the guidelines provide industry with practical tools for hazard identification, risk management, and execution of surface operations during fracture stimulation.
To walk through the guidelines in detail, EWTC will host a Surface Operations Guidelines Webinar featuring Ron Gusek, EWTC Vice Chair and CEO, President and Director of Liberty Energy, and and Matt Wilks, Executive Chairman at ProFrac Service on October 9. This session will highlight key sections of the guide, its practical applications, and the role it plays in strengthening wellsite safety and performance.

The guide reflects the expertise and real-world experience of EWTC member companies, providing clear frameworks to enhance safety, mitigate risk, and enhance communication at the wellsite. While designed as a resource for members, the guidelines also serve as a benchmark for exploration and production companies working alongside the service sector.
What’s Inside the Guidelines
- Surface hazard management processes
- Emergency shutdown procedures
- Communication protocols to strengthen coordination on-site
- Frameworks for assessing risk in high-pressure areas, elevated hazard zones, and concurrent operations
The Well Stimulation Surface Operations Industry Guidelines are now available to EWTC members and can also be shared with E&P companies looking to align operations with industry-recognized best practices.
