Last week, Energy Workforce President Tim Tarpley joined the Society of Petroleum Engineers Gulf Coast Section for their general meeting to discuss the state of energy markets, demand, and the evolving policy decisions facing the United States. As demand for LNG, AI, and data centers continues to climb, it is critical that our policy supports not only the production of energy in the United States but also the efficient, cost-effective movement of this energy across the country to where it needs to go.
Tarpley’s remarks focused on permitting reform, tariffs and trade, geopolitical disruptions, and the 2026 midterms outlook. Tarpley highlighted that finding a solution to federal permitting will be crucial to meeting the growing energy demand we are expected to see in the coming years. Tarpley fielded a number of questions on policy and the workforce challenges that face our industry. The group discussed ways energy trade groups can work together to encourage more young people to join the industry.
Thank you to SPE Gulf Coast Section for hosting and for a great discussion.
