VISTA Energy Hosts LATAM Chapter Event in Vaca Muerta Region

The Latin America Chapter of The Energy Workforce & Technology Council held its first event in the Vaca Muerta region at VISTA Energy, Argentina’s second-largest shale oil producer. Amid renewed interest in the Vaca Muerta basin, Chapter Chair Jorge Vidal, SLB, provided an overview of the sector’s engagement in the current energy expansion, followed by a keynote from Gabriela Prete, VISTA Energy, focusing on the company’s 2024 vision, sustainability priorities, and regional supplier engagements.

In its most recent sustainability report, Miguel Galuccio, Chairman and CEO of VISTA Energy, emphasizes the vital role of oil and gas producers in the energy transition, aiming for secure, low-cost, and low-carbon solutions. He also noted that with a transparent decarbonization roadmap, strategic investments, and a commitment to sustainability and ESG principles, Vista positions itself as a leader in Latin American energy, integrating safety, governance, and diversity initiatives into its operations while striving for a net-zero future by 2026.

Event attendees included representatives from Argentina’s largest shale player, YPF, members of the Latin America Chapter Steering Committee, and local Argentine-based oilfield company leaders, facilitating networking opportunities and robust discussions.

Led by Jorge Vidal, SLB, and Harold Mesa, Halliburton, the Chapter is gearing up for the 2024 AOG Expo in the Vaca Muerta region, with plans to expand activities to Brazil’s rapidly growing offshore market.
