Environmental and Citizen Groups Speak Out Against Drilling Under Ohio River
Environmental and citizen groups are asking West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin to reconsider the state’s current request for bids on leasing rights to oil and gas reserves below a 22-mile segment of the Ohio River. The groups expressed concerns regarding the state’s ability to safeguard the region’s water supplies. The deadline for bid submittal was September 25, 2014.
