Wyoming: Governor to Focus on Oil and Gas during Second Term

Upstream Conventional & Unconventional Onshore Development

Governor Matt Mead (R) has promised to focus on his goals for reshaping the state’s oil and gas industry. Mead’s three priorities for the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission include setbacks, flaring and well bonding. To date, the Commission has only introduced recommendations for setbacks by proposing a 500-foot cushion with mitigation required within 1,000 feet of a home. To address flaring, companies say they are working to build infrastructure to capture the fuel. Industry is also concerned that higher bonding limits could limit production.
