2023 Annual Meeting Preview: Harold Hamm to Receive Platinum Award, Capital Markets Panel

The Platinum Award, given for outstanding leadership in the oil and gas industry, will be presented to Harold Hamm, Founder & Executive Chairman, Continental Resources, at this year’s Annual Meeting. Energy Workforce will celebrate his dedication to the industry, as well as his leadership during more than five decades in oil and gas.

Energy Workforce’s premier annual event will take place April 26-27 in Austin. With a focus on “Answering the Call: Delivering Through Headwinds,” the lineup of speakers includes operators and leaders from all sectors of the oil and gas industry who will focus on the unique challenges and opportunities presented by the current market and industry dynamics.

Along with signature keynotes, leading industry executives will share a Capital Markets Panel, focusing on capital markets with specific insights into energy services and technology companies. Industry experts will also provide insights on Onshore North America Operators Panel Perspective, and the Business of Carbon Panel will address key energy policy issues. 

The Capital Markets Panel includes:

Salvador Pareja, Managing Director, Goldman Sachs: Sal is a Managing Director in the Global Natural Resources Group within the Investment Banking Division and is based in Houston, Texas. He works across the energy sectors in North America and Latin America. Since joining Goldman Sachs in 2006, Sal has spent the last 15+ years in natural resources investment banking and has performed extensive work in M&A, equity and debt capital raising for natural resources corporates. Sal earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Jonathan Regan, Partner, Quantum Energy Partners: Jonathan is a Partner at Quantum. Prior to joining Quantum, Jonathan was a Manager at PetroQuest Energy, where he was responsible for sourcing, evaluating and negotiating corporate and asset acquisitions, as well as raising debt and equity capital. Prior to joining PetroQuest, he was a Senior Associate with American Capital’s Energy Group in Dallas where he focused on private equity investments across the energy sector. He began his career as an Analyst with Citigroup’s investment bank in New York. Jonathan holds a B.B.A. in Management and an M.S. in Finance from Texas A&M University, where he graduated with honors.

Mike Scott, Managing Partner and Founder, Pelican Energy Partners: Mr. Scott is the founder of Pelican Energy Partners, a Houston-based private equity fund investing in energy service and equipment companies. Pelican’s team includes several former CEOs who have spent their careers building and leading companies in the energy sector, enabling a unique capability of partnering with small to middle market management teams in this sector. Prior to founding Pelican, Mr. Scott was a Principal at Sorenson Capital, a private equity fund in Salt Lake City, where he focused on oilfield and midstream investments. Prior to joining Sorenson, he worked at Cameron International, a multi-national oilfield equipment manufacturer, where he held several management positions. Mr. Scott earned a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He began his career as a power plant systems engineer at Honeywell, holds five patents, and has received several prestigious design and technical achievement awards.

MODERATOR: James West, Senior Managing Director, Evercore ISI: James West is a Senior Managing Director at Evercore ISI. He is responsible for the research coverage of the Sustainable Technologies & Clean Energy and Oil Services, Equipment & Drilling industries consisting of detailed fundamental research on companies involved in Solar and Wind Power, Battery and Power Storage Technologies, Hydrogen and the drilling and production of oil and natural gas. Prior to joining Evercore ISI, Mr. West was a Managing Director and Senior Research Analyst at Barclays and Lehman Brothers for a combined 15 years. Mr. West is consistently top ranked in Institutional Investor. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Mr. West worked at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Mr. West received his B.A. in Economics and a minor in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
