2024 Annual Meeting Preview: Offshore Operators Panel

Energy Workforce’s premier annual event takes place April 24-25 in Scottsdale, AZ. With a focus on “Capturing the Future: Utilizing Our Talent & Technology to Support the Evolving Energy Landscape,” the lineup of speakers includes operators and leaders from all sectors of the oil and gas industry who will focus on the unique challenges and opportunities presented by the current market and industry dynamics.

Along with signature keynotes, leading industry executives will share an Offshore Operators Perspective on how the industry is evolving. Sector experts will provide insights during the Onshore Operators Perspective, Molecules & Megawatts Fireside Chat, the New Energies Panel and the From the Wellhead to Consumers Panel.

Frank Garcia

The Offshore Perspective panel includes:

Frank Garcia, Vice President — Offshore Development, Murphy Oil Corporation: Frank Garcia has been with Murphy Oil Corporation for more than 15 years, most recently as Vice President – Offshore Development. Prior to this role, he has worked as General Manager of Western Hemisphere Offshore Operations, and a series of roles of increasing responsibility. He graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University and completed Harvard Business School’s Program for Leadership Development in 2019.

Jeremy Thigpen, Offshore Operators Perspective

Jeremy Thigpen, President & CEO, Transocean: Mr. Thigpen, Chief Executive Officer, joined Transocean as the company’s President and CEO in April 2015. He previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at National Oilwell Varco, where he spent 18 years. During his tenure at NOV, Mr. Thigpen spent five years as the company’s President of Downhole and Pumping Solutions business and four years as President of its Downhole Tools group. He also served in various management and business development capacities, including Director of Business Development and Special Assistant to the Chairman. Mr. Thigpen earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Managerial Studies from Rice University and completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School.

Jim Wicklund, Offshore Operators Perspective Moderator

Moderator Jim Wicklund, Managing Director, Client Relations & Business Development, PPHB: Mr. Wicklund is a veteran of the energy industry, having taken his career from field geophysicist to international operations, to equity research, to managing a hedge fund, and working as an investment banker. He has worked in geophysics and engineering for a geophysical company, an oil company, and a Petroleum Engineering group, both in the US and years of work internationally. He has won Best on the Street honors from the WSJ, 1st team in the II ranking multiple times and won the Greenwich Industry Knowledge recognition. Most recently, he was Managing Director and Senior Banker in the Energy Group at Stephens Inc., following decades as a research analyst and investor, with Rauscher Pierce, Banc of America, Credit Suisse and running a fund at Carlson Capital. He is a member and past symposium chair of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), on the boards of the National Offshore Industry Association (NOIA), the Technology Workforce and Technology Council (formerly PESA), Merit Advisors, Preng & Associated, and the Maguire Institute Advisory Board, at SMU his alma mater.
