Energy Services Sector November Jobs Report Shows Steady Growth and Resilience

HOUSTON- Today, the Energy Workforce & Technology Council released its monthly jobs report, highlighting a rebound in employment across the U.S. energy services sector. Total jobs in the sector reported at 655,630 in November 2024, reflecting an increase of 1,890 positions from October, according to preliminary data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and analysis conducted by the Energy Workforce & Technology Council.

At the national level, job creation showed a significant recovery after a period of stagnation attributed to a major labor strike and severe storms that impacted the Southeast. The national unemployment rate rose slightly to 4.2%, driven by a marginal decline in the labor force participation rate and an overall contraction in the labor force

“These numbers reflect more than just employment statistics—they represent the heartbeat of American energy innovation,” said Energy Workforce President Molly Determan. “The energy services sector continues to drive job growth and economic stability, proving its resilience and importance to communities across the nation.”
