The Executive Leadership Cultivating High-Performing Teams & Cultures program kicked off this week, hosted by EWTC member Caterpillar. Delivered in partnership with Heidrick & Struggles, the yearlong program focuses on what it actually takes to build and lead high-performing teams—clear communication, strong culture, and disciplined execution.
Early sessions centered on the shift from managing to leading, enterprise-level responsibility, and how leaders use their time. Participants also worked through practical areas like delegation and creating teams where people can speak up and perform at a high level.
Energy Workforce & Technology Council President Molly Determan opened the program with expectations and lessons learned from past cohorts, setting the tone for a hands-on, discussion-driven experience.
The value of peer exchange was immediate. Leaders compared challenges, pressure-tested approaches, and found common ground.
“It’s helpful to hear other perspectives and realize we’re working through many of the same challenges.”
Several participants also pointed to time as a key takeaway—what to hold, what to delegate, and where they can be more effective as leaders.
Beyond the classroom sessions, participants will engage with industry leaders through Energy Workforce events and leadership forums, expanding their network across the sector.
The program also includes executive coaching from Heidrick & Struggles and mentorship from Energy Workforce Board and Advisory Board members, giving participants direct access to experienced industry leaders.
