PESA’s Emerging Executives Committee engaged in an innovation workshop at Accenture’s Houston Innovation Hub on January 29.
The Hub is a collaborative environment with workshops that highlight leveraging digital and emerging technologies. Committee members toured the facility while Accenture discussed how leaders in the industry will set themselves apart.
By embracing disruptive technologies, like automation, artificial intelligence and virtual reality, the industry can find real value in digital operations. Participants on the tour were shown demonstrations of the digital plant, which uses automated operations and real-time data systems to create analytics that allow companies to exploit data and make agile business decisions.
A presentation on the connect worker showcased IoT solutions, including wearable tech like smart glasses and sensors, as well as using virtual reality for assisting in diagnostics, support and maintenance.
Finally, attendees learned how innovation has been applied to worker safety, including how video analytics can improve security, monitor hazard alerts and result in fewer safety incidents.
Attendees included leaders from: Baker Hughes, a GE company, Caterpillar Oil & Gas, Covenant Testing Technologies, Energy Alloys, Exterran, Fox Metals and Alloys, Gravity Oilfield Services, Halliburton, National Oilwell Varco, Oceaneering, Oil States International, Ringers Gloves, Schlumberger, TechnipFMC and Vallourec.
