Energy Workforce Appoints New Board, Advisory Board Members

Energy Workforce & Technology Council (EWTC) Board of Directors recently elected four new members to its Board and Advisory Board during the 2024 First Quarter Meeting on February 5, 2024, in Washington, D.C.

The EWTC Board of Directors and Advisory Board contribute to the Energy Workforce’s strategic direction, promote participation within their companies, and serve in key leadership roles in the energy technology and services sector of the oil and gas industry.

Board and Advisory Board members are elected to three-year terms. Congratulations to these industry leaders who will serve a critical role in guiding EWTC and the energy services and technology sector as the industry continues to meet growing global demand and provide affordable, reliable energy across the country and around the world.

Elected to the Board of Directors:

Derek Kamp, Vice President & General Manager, Cat Oil & Gas. Derek will be filling John Shanahan’s remaining term on the Board of Directors.

Elected to the Advisory Board:

Keith Chometsky, President, MS Directional, Patterson-UTI

Kenneth Pucheu, Chief Integration Officer, Patterson-UTI

Tony McLain, Chief Commercial Officer, GD Energy Products


Derek Kamp serves as Vice President & General Manager, Cat Oil & Gas

As Vice President, Derek has leadership responsibility for the Caterpillar Oil & Gas power systems, customer relationship management, Mathena surface control and CarbonPoint Solutions.

Derek has been with Caterpillar for more than 20 years, beginning as a controls engineer and moving into roles of increasing responsibility through account manager, well servicing, drilling and completions, and sales. He began his career as an electrical designer for KDJ Sales & Service.

Derek has a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Bradley University. He is a Six Sigma Blackbelt.


Keith Chometsky serves as President, MS Directional, Patterson-UTI

Keith Chometsky has over 20 years of experience in the oil/gas industry ranging from Major and Independent E&Ps to manufacturing and distribution companies supporting the industry.  His current role is President of a leading US land directional drilling provider, MS Directional, a Patterson-UTI subsidiary, a role that he has held since 2021.  Previously Keith served as the VP of SCM & Procurement supporting all of Patterson-UTI companies and spent over 10 years at Major and Independent Oil and Gas operators prior to joining Patterson-UTI. Keith received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and holds a Master Degree in Business Administration from the University of Houston.


Kenneth Pucheu serves as Chief Integration Officer, Patterson-UTI

Mr. Pucheu has served as Chief Integration Officer since September 2023. From December 2019 to August 2023, Mr. Pucheu served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for NexTier Oilfield Solutions. He joined NexTier in 2016 as Vice President of Finance. Mr. Pucheu has over 20 years of experience in corporate and operational finance across the energy industry, as well deep experience in digital technologies and business systems. Prior to joining NexTier, Mr. Pucheu served at Schlumberger Limited for 15 years in various senior-level positions, including Head of Finance for Drilling and Measurements and Director of Finance for North America Offshore. Mr. Pucheu earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.


Tony McLain, Chief Commercial Officer, GD Energy Products

A natural leader and communicator, Tony McLain serves as GD Energy Products’ Chief Commercial Officer and has been with the company for 24 years. Over the last decade, Tony has led the organization’s commercial teams and leverages a deep understanding of research and development, engineering, marketing, operations and sales to offer the best technical solutions to GDEP customers. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Tulsa and an MBA from Rice University.
