Energy Workforce encourages passage of Bipartisan Debt Ceiling Agreement, Commitment for more robust Permitting Reforms

Energy Workforce & Technology Council President Tim Tarpley issued the following statement encouraging passage of the bipartisan debt ceiling agreement, the Fiscal Responsibility Act, which includes important permitting reforms:

“Energy Workforce & Technology Council applauds the bi-partisan agreement to lift the debt ceiling which includes important reforms to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to help speed up projects and includes an agreement to finish the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MPV). This is a positive step forward by Congress, but more must be done.”

“Global energy demand is increasing, including demand for oil and gas. Without changes to the status quo, we will not have the infrastructure, the resources or grid capacity to provide energy services to American consumers and our allies in an affordable, reliable manner. It is unacceptable that the average time to permit a new energy infrastructure project in the United States is now exceeding that of many western countries. This gridlock is a direct threat to American energy security. Energy Workforce encourages passage of the bipartisan agreement and a commitment from lawmakers to work together for more robust permitting reforms.”
