Last week, Energy Workforce & Technology Council co-hosted a breakfast reception in Washington, DC, welcoming newly elected Members of Congress and Senators. Held in partnership with a coalition of joint trade associations and co-sponsored by Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT-1), the event provided an opportunity for the new lawmakers to engage directly with key representatives from the U.S. oil and gas industry. Attendees learned about the sector’s priorities and its critical role in supporting economic growth, energy security, and innovation.
Energy Workforce President Tim Tarpley represented the association alongside co-hosts from Western Energy Alliance, U.S. Oil & Gas Association, Independent Petroleum Association of America, Gulf Energy Alliance, National Ocean Industries Association, National Stripper Wells Association, Texas Alliance of Energy Producers and International Association of Drilling Contractors. And the group welcomed Reps. Nicholas Begich (AK-AL), Abraham Hamadeh(AZ-08), Jeffrey S. Hurd (CO-03), Jeff Crank (CO-05), Gabe Evans (CO-08), Jefferson Shreve (IN-06), Tom Barrett (MI-07), Mark Harris (NC-08), Tim Moore (NC-14), Julie Fedorchak (ND-AL), Dave Taylor (OH-02), Robert Bresnahan (PA-08), Craig Goldman (TX-12), John McGuire (VA-05), Dr. Mike Kennedy (UT-03), Bob Onder (MO-03).
During the event, Tarpley addressed pressing policy issues, including permitting reform, tariffs, and the Inflation Reduction Act. He also advocated for actions to expand access to federal lands, increase LNG exports, and reduce regulatory hurdles that challenge growth and innovation across the industry.
This reception underscores Energy Workforce’s commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration between industry leaders and policymakers. Members will have further opportunities to engage with lawmakers at the 2025 Washington, DC Fly-In, scheduled for February 25-27. The Government Affairs team will continue to monitor upcoming legislation and executive actions impacting the sector. Companies interested in joining the Fly-In or participating in the Government Affairs Committee can contact Energy Workforce VP of Government Affairs, Deidre Kohlrus, for more information.
