HOUSTON — The Energy Workforce & Technology Council (EWTC) released the following statement voicing strong support for the energy provisions currently under consideration by the House Natural Resources Committee as part of the budget reconciliation process. The proposed measures are essential to restoring American energy leadership and ensuring long-term economic strength.
The policy framework under consideration aligns with EWTC’s longstanding priorities, including the reinstatement of quarterly onshore lease sales, expanded offshore leasing schedules, and meaningful permitting reforms that reduce regulatory uncertainty and streamline project approvals.
“These measures represent one of the most serious steps toward reestablishing energy dominance in the United States,” said Energy Workforce President Tim Tarpley. “From lease sales to permitting reform, the policies put forward by the House Natural Resources Committee will help unlock the full potential of American energy and provide the foundation for investment, job creation, and economic growth.”
EWTC highlighted several key provisions that are critical to achieving these goals:
- Restoring quarterly onshore lease sales in major energy-producing states and establishing firm deadlines for offering eligible lands.
- Mandating regular offshore lease sales in the Gulf of America and Cook Inlet to ensure long-term production and infrastructure planning.
- Improving permitting timelines and clarity, giving producers the ability to invest with confidence.
- Streamlining environmental reviews while maintaining high standards and protecting project sponsors from frivolous delays.
- Updating offshore production regulations to allow for more efficient operations and increased revenue-sharing with states.
“These are practical reforms that reflect what our member companies have advocated for over the last several years,” Tarpley continued. “We appreciate Chairman Westerman’s leadership and look forward to continuing to work with Congress and the Administration to make American energy more competitive and secure.”
