Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner welcomed 16 African diplomats on October 28 for the inaugural PESA-AAI Africa Diplomatic Orientation & Engagement Program. Co-hosted by the Africa-America Institute, the program is designed to equip new and seasoned ambassadors with the tools needed to ensure their success in Washington.
Representatives from Angola, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa attended the event, as well as the Houston diplomatic corps. Clay Neff, President, Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production Company; Mamadou Beye, General Manager Corporate Affairs, Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production Company, Chevron; and Kofi-Appenteng, President, Africa-America Institute; and PESA President Leslie Beyer also spoke during the reception.
