Idaho: BLM Schedules Lease Sale

Upstream Conventional & Unconventional Onshore Development

On December 22, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) opened a 30-day comment period regarding the proposed lease sale to open 6,350 acres to drilling activity in southwest Idaho. Prior to the announcement, Houston-based Alta Mesa petitioned the Idaho Oil and Gas Conservation Commission to omit 187 acres of BLM land and potential royalties from a 615-acre drilling unit. BLM officials have stated they would like to begin production on federal lands in order to bring in money for the federal government. Following the agency’s announcement, Alta Mesa suspended its petition to state officials.
