Debra Martinez, Vice President of Human Resources – Global Operations, Exterran

PESA congratulates Engagement Committee Chair Debra Martinez on her promotion to Vice President of Human Resources – Global Operations at Exterran.

In her new role, Debra will be a champion of the human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization, while serving as a strategic business partner to the Chief Operating Officer.

Previously, she led initiatives in organizational change, reorganizing operations, leading cross-functional project teams, resolving labor issues, implementing new systems and controls, reducing costs and building high impact dynamic teams. Debra believes that diversity matters and has driven that belief as a strategic enabler for organization success throughout her career. She understands the correlation between a company’s commitment to diversity and its ability to win in the marketplace. She believes that more diverse companies are better able to attract and retain top talent, improve their customer and employee engagement, and ultimately their profitability.

Debra holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Roosevelt University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Chicago State University. She previously held human resources positions at The Brickman Group, Republic Services Inc. and Allied Waste, among others, before arriving at Exterran.

Debra chairs PESA’s Engagement Committee and serves on the Board of Trustees for The Arbor School. She is also a past member of the Board of Directors for the Bailiwick Theatre. She currently teaches faith formation at St. Anthony of Padua. Debra was named among Women of the Year 2010 by the National Association of Professional Women and an Outstanding Alumni by Chicago State University.
