Energy Workforce at ADIPEC 2024: Driving Innovation, Talent Growth, and Global Partnerships

The Energy Workforce & Technology Council (EWTC) concluded a highly impactful week at ADIPEC 2024, focusing on strategic industry partnerships, addressing sector challenges, and reinforcing its leadership in advancing the energy services industry. Below are key highlights showcasing EWTC’s contributions:

Attracting and Retaining Talent in Energy Services

Energy Workforce President Molly Determan participated in a panel tackling one of the sector’s biggest challenges—how to attract and keep the next generation of talent. The panel covered:

Purpose-Driven Careers- Younger generations prioritize purpose. The panel explored how energy services can connect with Millennials and Gen Z by highlighting societal contributions.

Career Flexibility- Traditional career ladders are being replaced with rotational programs, mentorship, and project-based roles, appealing to modern career expectations.

Multi-Generational Collaboration- With four generations in the workforce, fostering mentorship and communication across age groups builds stronger teams and improves company culture.

Panelists included EWTC President Molly Determan, Stephanie Del Carpio (BCG), Umer Bhat (RAKGAS), Asma Almani (Lean in Equity and Sustainability)

These discussions reinforced EWTC’s commitment to equipping its members with actionable insights to enhance workforce retention and development, driving business success.

Technology in Energy: Regional Training

While at ADIPEC, EWTC, Baker Hughes, and Accenture partnered to deliver a specialized training for the U.S. Embassy, focusing on regional market insights, technological advances driving the sector and how these technologies are improving energy resilience and operations. This session reinforced EWTC’s dedication to sharing expertise and driving global innovation in the energy sector.

Technology in Energy Roundtables

Global energy leaders, including Member Companies SLB, Baker Hughes, Accenture and EWTC President Molly Determan, gathered at two energy technology focused roundtables to discuss how technology continues to transform the industry and the transformative impact of AI on the energy industry.

There is no doubt that AI is a game changer with the potential to revolutionize energy operations, yet many challenges remain in achieving meaningful ROI. During the roundtable, EWTC President Molly Determan emphasized its role in helping the workforce adapt to AI-driven changes and leveraging technology for business impact.

According to Forbes Global 2000, AI is seen as the most transformative driver of change, yet achieving meaningful ROI remains a challenge. Molly addressed how the energy services sector is collaboratively developing their workforce and opportunities within the industry.

EWTC remains at the forefront of promoting AI adoption, advocating for workforce development to meet tomorrow’s demands.
