PESA kicked off its ESG Knowledge Sharing Certification Program with leaders at Citigroup and Cyber Defense Labs providing a deep dive into the “Governance” dimension of ESG. Hosted by ESG Committee Chairs Jock Pool, Oceaneering, and Valerie Banner, Exterran, and facilitated by Simone Ponticelli, Accenture, this was the first in a three-part series culminating in November.
As part of the program, Accenture created a survey to assess the OFS sector’s maturity in each dimension of ESG. Ponticelli opened with a presentation of the findings, which showed that OFS companies are generally leading in compliance and accountability but still in the planning phases of involving leadership on ESG program and internal risk management.
The first session provided participants with best practices and tools from governance experts outside the energy sector, as well as a discussion of cybersecurity, a critical enterprise risk.
Paula Jones, Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary, Corporate Governance, Citigroup, gave insight on how energy companies could address shareholder proposals, and provided advice on improving diversity and inclusion on boards.
Federico Campbell, Vice President, Professional Services, and Matt Voss, Director of Proactive Technical Services at Cyber Defense Labs led a discussion of cybersecurity challenges companies face. They provided real-life examples of third-party threats and insight into security frameworks the energy industry could employ.
In the next session, scheduled for September 29 at noon CT, Evelyn MacLean-Quick, Hess Corporation, will lead a seminar on the “Social” dimension, as well as the global energy workforce transformation.
