The Council and the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) are partnering to support STEM education in high schools across the country. Working together through the IPAA/Energy Workforce Education Center, teachers assign students to view videos by energy companies, and students can record a video or write an essay describing what they learned from the videos.
The program is designed to stimulate student interest in energy industry careers such as engineering, geology, supply chain management, business development, chemistry, environmental and regulatory specialist, cybersecurity, data analytics and more. Students receive key information and instruction on leadership, interviewing techniques, energy careers and energy topics.
Juniors and seniors are able to join IPAA’s Emerging Leaders in Energy group. This free program offers students a professional organization that will help build resumes and keep them up to date on industry information.
Since the program’s launch in January of this year, more than 2,800 students from 28 school districts have registered. States represented include: Alaska, California, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Texas and Virginia.
Energy companies have provided more than 100 videos to-date. IPAA and the Council invite members to submit short videos for teachers to use in their classrooms. Your videos will support this program, which helps educate and inspire diverse students in STEM and energy careers around the country.
