Texas Energy Day Focuses on Key Issues for Industry

On Wednesday, the Texas Oil and Gas Association, TXOGA, hosted its annual Energy Day at the Texas Capitol. The hybrid in-person and online event provided an opportunity for attendees and sponsors to interact with Texas legislators on key issues facing the oil and natural gas industry. The Council supported the event and had representatives present during the delegation meetings.

Trade associations focused attention on the federal oil and gas leasing ban and how it will affect Texas, energy security and the economy. The Council’s Tim Tarpley previously addressed the issue on an episode of the Energy In Transition podcast and in a weekly column.

The Texas Energy Day morning segment featured speeches from Texas leaders, including Gov. Greg Abbott, Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian, Texas Sen. Jane Nelson, and vice chair of IHS Markit Daniel Yergin.

During lunch, several resolutions were read from the Capitol Floor, followed by a “Virtual Energy Avenue” with videos educating legislators and their staffs on energy-related processes.

The Council will continue to support advocacy efforts at state and national levels through its Government Affairs Committee. If you wish to join, please reach out to SVP Government Affairs Tim Tarpley.
