Rep. John Curtis Visits Energy Workforce: Advocating for Energy Policy and Collaboration

On Monday, Feburary 19, Energy Workforce hosted Rep. John Curtis (R-UT-03) for a meeting to discuss current energy policy issues being discussed at the Federal level. Joining the meeting were Energy Workforce Members with facilities located in Utah, including Energy Workforce Board Vice Chair Scott Livingston, President, Energy Products and Services, NOV and Energy Workforce Government Affairs Committee Chair Bruce Miller, VP, Director of Government & Industry Affairs, SLB along with Energy Workforce President Tim Tarpley and President Molly Determan.

During the hour-long visit, Rep. Curtis discussed issues like the Administration’s current pause on new non-FTA permits for LNG export facilities. He noted that bipartisan support for the repeal of this action, along with the recently passed legislation H.R. 7176 Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act introduced by Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX-11), set up a strong case for a potential victory on this issue. Additionally, the group discussed Rep. Curtis’s role as the Chair of the Conservative Climate Caucus. This Congressional Caucus serves to Educate House Republicans on climate policies and legislation consistent with conservative values. The meeting participants discussed the value of the Caucus and how Energy Workforce Member Companies could help support the mission of the Caucus. Lastly, Energy Workforce invited Rep. Curtis to visit one of the 20+ Member Company facilities located throughout Utah, which the Congressman looked forward to scheduling this year.

This meeting was a valuable opportunity to continue the discussions from the 2024 Washington, DC, Fly-In earlier this month. Building upon existing relationships, such as the one with Rep. Curtis, amplifies Energy Workforce’s mission and role as part of the organization’s ongoing education and advocacy activities.

Energy Workforce will continue to monitor and advocate for policy issues of importance to Member Companies through regular meetings and events with lawmakers.
