PESA Members Visit Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK)

PESA Members Visit Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK)PESA is proud to contribute to STEM education, including through the National Society of Black Engineers’ (NSBE) Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK). SEEK, a free, three-week engineering immersion program for third through fifth graders, helps expose under-represented communities to STEM.

Members of PESA’s Energy Educators, Emerging Executives, and Human Resources Committees visited with SEEK students and toured Houston’s Young Women’s College Prep Academy on June 29. The committees watched 3rd grade students demonstrate a project they created powering a vehicle using chemistry and electricity in a hydrogen fuel c ell. The 4th grade students presented an artistic design project to parents, students, NSBE and PESA.

With more than 17,000 members worldwide and 500+ chapters, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-governed societies based in the U.S. NSBE is committed to increasing the number of African American and minority engineers by fostering academic excellence, professional success and positive community involvement.

PESA Members Visit Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK)PESA’s Energy Educators Committee coordinates various educational initiatives and contributions, including the IPAA/PESA Energy Education Center and STEM education at elementary, secondary and undergraduate levels. The Committee also sponsors fundraising activities to raise funds for these efforts.
