The PESA West Texas Steering Committee conducted a school supply drive for local schools in August. Nearly $8,000 worth of school supplies were donated to Bush, Parker, Scharbauer and Greenwood elementary schools in the Midland Independent School District.
According to Steering Committee member Jeff Wilhelm, Senior Vice President, GR Energy Services, the committee left boxes at area businesses for six business days.
“We had boxes at PESA member companies, including Pumpco Energy Services, Schlumberger and TechnipFMC,” he said. “We also placed donation boxes at some local grocery stores, Target, and all locations of Texas National Bank. Legend’s Hair Salon offered free back-to-school haircuts if a donation was made.”
The donations included 20 of each item on the school supply list, which allowed the supplies to be distributed among every class in a specific grade in each school. The boxes were available during Texas’ tax-free weekend, which Wilhelm believes helped increase donations.
“You guys are amazing,” Orlando Riddick Superintendent, Midland ISD, said. “Thank you for taking the time and initiative to impact the lives of our students and staff. I look forward to connecting with your organization and to a continued relationship.”
Midland ISD consists of 40 campuses, including 27 elementary schools.
“As an industry that supports education opportunities, ensuring students have everything they need to be successful in the classroom is a priority,” PESA President Leslie Beyer said. “PESA is proud to support education efforts in the Permian, helping prepare students for bright futures.”
